Hiring A Magician For Your Wedding - Pros And Cons.

By Andrew Edmonds

I discussed in a previous article what you should be aware of when hiring a magician for your wedding. In writing that article I assumed you had already decided that a magician is what you wanted, the help I gave was in finding the right one.

In this article I will discuss WHY you should be hiring a magician and the advantages and disadvantages in doing so. Now, of course, I am slightly biased given that this is my line of work, but I still think I can put forward a case for the conjuring community.

Let's start by remembering the fact that throughout your wedding day you will be the centre of attention, and so naturally your mind will not always be on the general welfare of your guests, especially during the photos where you will likely be occupied for a couple of hours. This is where a magician can step in to add that extra dimension to your guests wedding experience and give you peace of mind knowing that they are in good hands.

A good magician can be very versatile and slot in during any part of your day.

A magician can wow your guests during any of the following times

Photographs

The formal photographs can take up to a couple of hours with most of your guests left to idly chat amongst themselves. There is no better time than a magician to step in and provide an unforgettable experience,; a great ice breaker.

Wedding breakfast

Hiring a magician to perform at each table between courses, commonly termed table-hopping, is another popular choice thus helping to raise the atmosphere in the room as you and your guests applaud, laugh and cheer. Your wedding day will feel that little bit more special.

Evening reception

A magician can also entertain during the evening reception when all your evening guests have arrived and the party is in full swing. With formalities out the way this is usually a very relaxed part for all and having a magician entertain can provide a very memorable experience for all. A magician can mingle with guests and even perform a small show which will always include the wedding couple.

So, that's the pros in hiring a magician, what about the cons.

Firstly, the cost. Hiring a decent professional close up is not cheap and would usually set you back in the region of five hundred pounds for a couple of hours. If you have the budget, then do it.

You also have to consider that booking a good, no great, magician, with a lot of experience and great testimonials AND the right personality will likely take you time to find. I cannot stress how important it is to find the right magician for your big day. Yes, it will take some research on the internet, a few phonecals and maybe even seeing a few in action at some wedding fayres, but it will be worth it to take away the stress on the day knowing your guests are being entertained as you wish them to be.

So, in conclusion, if you have the money and time to find a magician that you know will meet the expectations you have then book one. For years to come your guests will likely talk about "that magician" which will bring a smile to your face. - 30290
